About
Robert Rusev Stained Glass is a specialist studio dedicated to the conservation, restoration, and creation of stained glass.
Founded and led by Robert Rusev, a master artisan with more than 30 years of professional experience, the studio has established a reputation for thoughtful, high-quality work across both historic and contemporary projects.
With a strong foundation in traditional techniques, the studio specialises in the conservation of stained and leaded glass, working with care and precision to preserve original material and maintain the integrity of each piece. Projects range from small repairs to the full restoration of significant heritage windows in churches, public buildings, and private residences.
Alongside conservation, the studio undertakes the design and fabrication of new stained glass, drawing on established methods of glass painting and leading to create work that is both contextually sensitive and enduring.
The studio works closely with architects, heritage professionals, and property owners, providing not only practical conservation services but also informed guidance to support responsible decision-making.
At the core of the practice is a commitment to craftsmanship, material integrity, and the long-term preservation of stained glass as an important part of our built and cultural heritage.
Our Approach
Our work is guided by the principle that stained glass should be preserved wherever possible, with intervention kept to the minimum necessary to ensure its stability and longevity.
We believe that each window carries historical, artistic, and architectural significance. For this reason, conservation is undertaken with careful consideration, using appropriate traditional methods and materials, and always with respect for the original craftsmanship.
Where new work is required, it is designed and fabricated with the same commitment to integrity, ensuring it sits naturally within its architectural context while reflecting the enduring qualities of the craft.
